Guilt by Association

Core claim: A person or group is discredited by being unjustifiably linked to another negatively-regarded entity based on a superficial shared trait that has no logical connection to the negative aspects in question.

Input: „Hitler was a vegetarian and committed atrocities. Person A is also a vegetarian, so they must share similar extremist views.“
Output: Being a vegetarian has no causal or logical connection to the crimes in question. The shared dietary choice does not imply any similarity in ideology or behaviour. Evaluate Person A's actual arguments on their merits.

Input: „You want to raise the minimum wage? So you're just like [group X]!“
Output: Sharing one policy position with a group one dislikes does not make one morally or ideologically equivalent to that group. The argument should be evaluated on its own economic and social merits, not on who else happens to support it.

Input (legitimate): “As the finance minister, you are responsible for explaining your government's budget decisions.”
Output: This is a fair accountability question: the person has voluntarily taken on a representative role and is being asked to answer for actions within that role's scope. Not a fallacy.
